The 36th Hippodice Competition has officially started! You can now submit your unpublished game ideas – and with a bit of luck, make it all the way to the grand final in March 2026.
Submission Phase
Submissions are initially accepted digitally.
The submission deadline for this phase is September 21, 2025.
Before the final round, your games will go through several test phases, receive detailed feedback, and have the chance to be discovered by publishers.
Important: Each person may submit a maximum of 3 game ideas.
New: Game Duration Limit
This year comes with an important change:
The actual playtime of your prototype (excluding explanation time) must not exceed 90 minutes. Please keep this in mind when submitting!
Typically, this playtime refers to experienced 4-player game sessions. Details about the new game duration rule can also be found in our FAQ and the competition rules.
Why Participate
- Feedback from experienced test groups
- Contacts to numerous publishers
- Chance to have your game published
- International exposure for your game idea
Competition Procedure
After digital submission, we review the game descriptions and rules in a preliminary round. Games that impress here will be invited to the main round, for which authors must then submit their prototypes.
Prototypes will be thoroughly tested and evaluated, and in the final round in March 2026, they will be discussed by a professional jury. Publishers also have the opportunity to take particularly exciting games directly and get in touch with the authors.
💡 Tips for a Successful Submission
To give your game the best chance, here are a few recommendations based on our experience:
- Clear and precise rules: Publishers and test players appreciate rules that are easy to understand and well-structured.
- Concise game description: Present the core idea of your game on one page and highlight what makes it special.
- Illustrative images and graphics: Visualize the game flow or materials – this greatly helps understanding.
- Observe the game duration limit: Maximum 90 minutes of actual playtime – test it in advance with experienced players.
- Technically clean PDFs: Label your files clearly (Game Name + Author Name) and ensure they are easy to read.
